Melbourne International Motor Show: Ford Territory Facelift Unveiled

Ford Australia has announced the new updated Territory SUV at the Melbourne International Motor Show. First launched in 2004 the Territory is said to be a popular model in the Australian market with more than 86,000 units sold up to now. The new car will appear at dealer floors during the second quarter of 2009.

A new Territory with an old interior would defeat the whole purpose of this facelift, therefore Ford has added new seat materials, two new interior environments, silver steering wheel buttons (for TS, Ghia and Ghia Turbo models), new colour finishes and trim highlights on the vehicle's entire model range.

Changes performed on the car's exterior include revised tail lamps, body coloured exterior mirrors, a new bonnet with a new front bumper, new headlights and a lower front grille design. The TX base model now comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and side curtain airbags while the TS gets fog lamps as out-of-the-box equipment.

Prices begin at AU$39,490 for the TX 4-speed automatic and peak at AU$66,420 for the 6-speed automatic Ghia Turbo.

New Holden Cruze Debut in Melbourne

The new Holden Cruze headlines a list of 25 vehicles that the Australian automaker will be showing off in Melbourne. Also on the stand will be Holden's EcoLine range of vehicles, including two Commodores (one sedan and one Ute) running on liquefied petroleum gas and another two vehicles featuring Active Fuel Management, which switches the V8 engine into a V4 when full power isn't required.

Attendees at the 2009 Melbourne Motor Show will be greeted by a nice surprise at the Holden tent as GM's Australian arm has announced it will be bringing what appears to be a production-ready Holden-badged Cruze to display. After taking a brief look at the pics, it's easy to see that nothing much has changed from the Chevy version of the Cruze besides a switch to right-hand drive and, of course, a fresh set of Holden badges all around.

Geneva Motor Show: Pagani Zonda F Cinque

Pagani will bring a one-off Pagani Zonda F Cinque to the Geneva Auto Salon next week. The Zonda F Cinque is a teaser for the upcoming Pagani Zonda Cinque that is based on the new Pagani Zonda R that will also make it’s appearance in Geneva. We had a unique peak at the limited edition Zonda F Cinque at the Pagani factory earlier this month.

The Pagani Zonda F Cinque is very different to the Zonda Cinque of which artist impressions were released last year. The Zonda Cinque is based on the new Zonda R and shares only 10% of it’s components with the Zonda F. It will only be build in a very limited production of just 5 cars which are all already sold. Production of the first Zonda Cinque has not yet begun.

To bridge the 1 year required for the Zonda Cinque to be build, Pagani build a Zonda F in Cinque livery. It looks pretty much like the artist impressions of the Cinque with again the major difference that this Cinque is based on the Zonda F instead of the Zonda R.

Therefor it lacks a couple aerodynamic features found on the Zonda R and Cinque impressions including the hood scoop and new rear diffuser. One of the highlights of the Zonda F Cinque are the black wheels and tyres that feature a red line along the edge of the tyre and the unique paintjob. This will definitely be one of the most amazing Zonda F’s to date and something to look forward to in Geneva.

Geneva 2009: I.DE.A ERA

It was an idea, reality will be in Geneva. Leaving aside the obvious jokes, the institute will present the design I.DE.A Swiss exhibition near the ERA concept car, a symbol (to use the same words contained in the official release) the renewal of the company.

With this two-seater roadster, which is essential in its tubular structure with the only goal of the habit of gull wing, the studio back to expose the 'International Motor Show "ten years after the last appearance. That it will not be temporary.

"This prototype is only the first of a series of models to which we are working to reassert our own line of design" commented with satisfaction Lardin Peter, President of I.DE.A Institute. Era, in questo caso, va considerato come un sostantivo rivolto al futuro, non verbo al passato. It was in this case must be considered as a noun to the future, not the verb to the past.

Fifth Gear wrings out Ford’s new 300 HP Focus RS in Video

Ford officials who are already sick of American enthusiasts captious endlessly about how we fail to prepare the “good” Focus in the U.S. may want to consider signing up for some bigger mailboxes. The 2.5-liter, 300-horsepower RS model is just now going on sale in Europe, and videos like this new one from Fifth Gear probably won’t help to stem the tide of invectives headed their way.

According to Fifth Gear, the RS returns a somewhat timid-sounding 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds, but the RS promises keenly balanced performance elsewhere, with turbo lag that have power to actually be deployed to further handling(!). In sum, the UK television program refers to the Blue Oval’s 163-mile-per-hour hatch as nothing less than “a bomb in a greenhouse.” Excuse us time we go take up gardening…
